Jason Narducy started playing music at age ten when he formed Verböten with Evanston friends. Verböten was featured in Foo Fighter’s 2014 HBO Sonic Highways series because they inspired Dave Grohl to start his own band. Verböten still plays music live, most recently at the Square Roots festival.
As an adult musician, Jason performed the national anthem at a Bulls game, sang a duet with jazz artist Patricia Barber on her Blue Note Records debut, and repeatedly lost guitar picks. When he’s not touring as bassist for Bob Mould or Superchunk, Jason focuses on his band Split Single, instead of his children. I love their video for Untry Love. Greg Kot of The Chicago Tribune called Jason a “first-rate songwriter.” Jason also tours with Michael Shannon, playing REM’s music in sold-out shows, and members of REM have joined them onstage. Here they are on the Tonight Show covering Driver 8.
Narducy writes and produces short comedy episodes called The Sexiest Elbows In Rock which feature Fred Armisen, Michael Shannon, Jeff Tweedy, Todd Barry, Margaret Cho, Tim Meadows, Dave Hill, and many more. Jason has played bass and sung back-up vocals with Robert Pollard (Guided By Voices), Eddie Vedder, The Pretenders, and Liz Phair. Basically, he’s a smart, funny guy who wears button-down shirts, writes great music and tells engaging stories.
