Date: Saturday, June 21
Rod Picott has released thirteen albums over the last 24 years and and toured non-stop, when he hasn’t been caring for his aging parents. But now, it’s time to pull on reins. In his words: “It’s time. The Circus of Misery & Heartbreak is pulling down the tent poles. The elephants are sleepy, and the popcorn turned cold. It’s been an absolute privilege to have this job the last 24 years. I never took it for granted… I’m a cactus. I require little, repel my enemies, and flower at will… but I’m ready to be planted in one place now.”
Through luck and white knuckled determination, Picott has been fortunate to open a tour for Alison Krauss and Union Station, play the Shrewsbury Folk festival, appear several times on the BBC2 Bob Harris sessions, play the Maverick Festival and receive the “Song of the Year” award for his co-write (w/Slaid Cleaves) of Broke Down at the Austin Music Awards. He played at Molly’s House Concerts in April, 2023, and more than once at the now-closed Black Dog House Concerts in Rogers Park. Have you seen his videos for Elbow Grease and Ghost? This is your last chance to see him, so don’t miss it! RSVP for his June 21 show now.
